Who is Advance Nursing?

Advance Nursing is a nurse owned and operated company.  Founded in 1998 by Christopher Brock, RN BSN.  Brock received his Bachelor of Science in nursing degree from the University of Massachusetts.  Prior to entering the nursing profession Brock received degrees in Aeronautics as a Professional Pilot and worked in the Airline industry.  Witnessing the hardship of the airline industry and while living in California during an economic downfall of the late 80’s early 90’s he sought to seek employment in a different profession.  Brock was determined to find a rewarding career that would support his family and offer future growth and stability.  He married in 1991 to Sandra and having his only child Brittany in 1993, Brock needed a sound career.

The Brock family having a long history in Nursing was almost a given for Brock to become a nurse.  His mother Carolyn was an LPN who graduated a diploma Hospital program.  His grandmother Rose was a Registered Nurse and worked together with Carolyn at a local hospital in Brock’s hometown in Massachusetts.

After Graduating UMASS, the Brocks moved to South Carolina and Chris attended the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Clemson University while working as Critical Care Nurse in Greenville SC.

While working in SC as an RN Brock stepped out and took a risk to become self employed and opened Critical Care Specialist, a medical staffing company.  Brock was the first nurse and was for quite a few months until demand for nurses surpassed the supply and the company went from himself to 40 fulltime critical care RN’s in 6 months and the staffing assignments crossed state lines.  By 2002 the demand for generalized nursing along with long term care, sub acute became in demand.  Brock then changed the name to Advance Nursing Corporation to attract a wide range of nurses.  Advance nursing has grown and become a leader in the South Carolina and Arizona markets for per diem and contract staffing while employing hundreds of nurses annually.

Advance Nursing was among the first to receive its Joint Commission Accreditation for staffing which it still holds today.  Advance Nursing contributes its success to the fact we are nurse owned, worked in the field such as our staff, and accessible 24 hours a day.    We are smaller in comparison to the national firms that give us a huge customer service advantage.  We are not publicly traded and dictated by Wall Street to make the numbers work, we work for the nurse and support their role so they can succeed and in return we get the bragging rights about our quality over quantity.

Advance Nursing is the core business for Brock but he also has an entreupener side that won’t quit.  In 2004 Brock launched Scrubs in Motion, a medical uniform delivery system located in Greenville SC.  Scrubs in Motion is a hybrid business model of Mary Kay and Snap-On tools for the medical world.  The business model is simple, deliver quality apparel to their work place in modified Nascar Trailers made into rolling retail stores.  The sales don’t stop then because we offer deep web site discounts, phone orders and group orders.  Scrubs in Motion started franchising late 2010 and expects to grow nationally delivering to rural America apparel and shoes they cannot get except on the web or in large cities.  You may one day hear Brock state “You show me a rural community that shops only at Super Walmart; you showed me millions to be made with Scrubs in Motion!”

In October 2008 Brock opened a spinoff of Scrubs in Motion called Shoez in Motion located n Pawleys Island SC.  This business model is primarily comfort shoes and slip resistant occupational shoes.  The demand for comfortable shoes is huge a stated by Brock.  They offer hundreds of name Brands such as Dansko, Orthoheel, Sanuk, K-Swiss, Vibram Five Fingers, Rockport, Flexi, Klogs, Taos, Toms, lacoste and many more.

Brock is dedicated family man married over 20 years and loves the profession of nursing in which he still holds his nursing license today.  He is hands on from bottom to top of all his companies and loves to help others succeed if they are willing to work hard to achieve success.
