Frequently Ask Questions
What type of medical professionals do you hire?
Advance Nursing offers career opportunities for traveling RNs, LPNs, allied
health professionals, radiology technicians, medical office support specialities,
medical assistants and laboratory specialists.
How much experience is required?
Experience requirements depend on the position. We prefer our traveling
professionals have at least one year of experience. However, excellent
opportunities are available for professionals who are relatively new to
the field.
How long will my assignments last?
A typical assignment lasts 13 weeks. Our minimum assignment is four weeks,
and the maximum is 26 weeks.
How many hours will I work?
You will work 36 hours per week if you work 12-hour shifts. You'll receive
at least 40 hours a week if you work 8-hour or 10-hour shifts.
How do I get paid?
Advance Nursing will pay you via direct deposit every week or by direct
mail. You choose.
Do I pay Advance Nursing to help me find an assignment?
No. There are no costs associated with becoming part of the Advance Nursing
team.
How do I arrange for housing while on assignment?
Advance Nursing will provide you with a furnished apartment. You can choose
a private apartment, or a shared apartment with private bedrooms if you
prefer the company of a roommate. The units will be in move-in condition
when you arrive. We cover the rent and will pay up to $80 a month for
utilities. If you prefer to find your own place to live, we'll pay a generous
housing stipend based on market rates.
Do I get a travel allowance?
Yes. We pay 30¢ per mile for round-trip travel and up to $600 per
assignment.
Will I need a new nursing license?
In most cases, you'll need a temporary license if you're taking an assignment
in another state. We can advise you on the specific licensing requirements
for different states, and can help you obtain a temporary license which
is valid for up to one year. You can also use our state and license locator
tool to access licensing information by state.
Who pays for the license?
In your first check, we'll reimburse you up to $100 of your licensing
fees.
How do I sign up with Advance Nursing?
The quickest, most convenient way is to apply online. It only takes a
few minutes to get your application process started.
What can I expect after I complete an application?
An Advance Nursing recruiter will get in touch with you by phone or e-mail
to request additional information. We'll want to know more about you,
your location and shift preferences, your skills, experience and availability.
Once we have the information, we'll search our database and present you
with a list of assignments that appear to be a good fit for you. We may
even present exciting opportunities in desirable locations that weren't
mentioned by you. We'll provide detailed information about each hospital
and location, along with a salary and benefits summary.
Do I get to choose the location?
Absolutely. That's one of the greatest joys of being a traveling medical
professional. The coast, the mountains, the mid-West, you decide where
you would like to go and we'll handle the rest.
How do I get an assignment?
If an opportunity appeals to you, tell us and we'll submit your profile
to that hospital. Then we'll arrange a telephone interview between you
and a hospital representative. If you're both comfortable and are prepared
to move forward, the assignment is yours.
How soon would I start?
You and the hospital will work together to determine the start date. If
you're ready to pack up and go, you could be starting in a week or two.
If you need more time to get things in order, you could wait a month or
even several months before starting your assignment.
Are there any long-term commitments?
No. You accept one assignment at a time, and you're not required to sign
any long-term contract with Advance Nursing or any of our client hospitals.
At the end of each assignment, you decide where you'd like to go from
there. If you enjoyed your work at the hospital, you might choose to extend
your assignment or apply for a full-time position there. If you're ready
for a new experience, you could apply for a new assignment in a different
city. Or you could return home for a little rest and relaxation before
deciding to travel again. It's your decision. Join the Advance Nursing
team and experience the difference.
